Wanting To Go
Trip February 11th, 2009I always wanted to see the Biltmore Estate and just about everything in it. That’s why I already got myself a room in one of the Asheville hotels and already have an idea which Asheville restaurants to visit. Now, according to the internet web site that I searched, Biltmore House is a French Renaissance inspired chateau near Asheville, North Carolina, built by George Washington Vanderbilt between 1888 and 1895. It is the largest privately owned home in the United States at 175,000 square feet (16,300 m2) and featuring 255 rooms. Still owned by one of Vanderbilt’s descendants, it stands today as one of the most prominent remaining examples of the Gilded Age. In 2007, it was ranked eighth on the List of America’s Favorite Architecture by the American Institute of Architects. I also want to see the 70,000 gallon (265 cubic meters) indoor swimming pool, bowling alley, turn-of-the-century exercise equipment, two-story library, and other rooms filled with artworks, furniture and 19th-century novelties such as elevators, forced-air heating, centrally-controlled clocks, fire alarms and an intercom system. Overall, I believe that this is the best place to go when visiting North Carolina, and I think I will have the best time of my life once I get there.
